Cabin in the woods: a complete remodel of a very marginal post and beam cabin with dated kitchen and bath

Cabin in the woods:

A complete remodel of a very marginal post and beam cabin with dated kitchen and bath.

Designer debrae lopes thought out of the box, moved the dining to where the kitchen formerly stood, opened up the new dining area with passive solar french doors to the south for expansive sun and view. She placed the kitchen central to the existing bay window for an intimate bench solace spot to catch a read while waiting for the water to boil, and curl up with a cup of tea while baking dinner in the island range. New open floor plan with mid century modern feel, still maintaining the cabin vernacular.

Boa replaced the dated water heater with a tankless unit, added high efficacy uplighting to the cabinets tops improving energy efficiency and capturing the beauty of the architecture of the post and beam structure.

Use of FSC sustainably harvested hickory floors and custom cabinets with a mixed use of natural and dark stain enhances and supports the existing ceiling of light and dark elements, a play of light and color.
