Vega Residence

Vega Residence

This spacious Strawbale house sits atop a knoll in the Santa Cruz mountains. Designed by architect Dan Silvernail, built by BOA CONSTRUCTOR BUILDING AND DESIGN in 2001. Called Skyote Mountain by its owners Selene and Reñe Vega, this passive solar retreat center/home stays a comfortable temperature year round with the help of its super insulated strawbale walls, recycled cellulose roof insulation and ample southern exposure. Designed with a cascading roof line from west to east , this off the grid home produces all its own electricity with a 6K watt photovoltaic system. There is no PG&E bill at Skyote Mountain.
