Jewelry Studio

This project was built in 1996 by Boa Constructor Building and Design and a group of participants intersted in Strawbale Building organized by "Out on Bale", grass roots innovators of the Strawbale movement. It was constructed as an educational tool, more for the process than the product. A group of about 12 of us put it up in a week-end workshop with slide shows and other educational models. The finish took a bit longer, hand done by michele, debrae and friends. It is a 10 x 12 load bearing structure built this size so it wouldn't have to be permitted. Built over the properties' well as a pump house, this may have been the first Strawbale Building in Santa Cruz. Upon completion, the space was quickly utilized by debrae as a jewelry studio, but has had many incarnations since.
